How to Archive Photos in Google Photos on Android
Hide family photos from your main Android gallery without deleting them by moving items to the archive, where they remain in search results and albums.

To archive photos without deleting them in Google Photos on an Android device, you can move items to the archive to hide them from your gallery view Google Photos Help.
How the archive feature hides photos
If you have a photo or video that you no longer want to see in the Google Photos gallery view but you do not want to delete it, you can move those items to Archive Google Photos Help. When you move photos and videos to the archive, you can still find them in search results, folders on your device, and any albums they were added to Google Photos Help.
Steps to archive photos on an Android device
To begin, open the Google Photos app on your Android phone or tablet and sign in to your Google Account Google Photos Help. Next, select a photo Google Photos Help. At the top, tap More, and then tap Archive from the drop down Google Photos Help. I suggest setting aside a dedicated time to scroll through your timeline if you plan to move a large number of images out of your main view at once.
Storage limits and viewing archived items
Archiving an image does not save space, as the moved items will still count towards your storage quota Google Photos Help. Furthermore, these items won’t be used to create highlight videos or animations once they are archived Google Photos Help.
As an optional step to find the photos you have archived from your Photos view, look at the bottom of the Google Photos app, tap Collections, and then tap Archive Google Photos Help.
