To remove red-eye from photos on a Mac, you will need to double-click a photo, click Edit in the toolbar, click Adjust, and then click Red-Eye Apple Support.

Using the Auto Red-Eye tool in Mac Photos

To begin, double-click a photo, then click Edit in the toolbar Apple Support. Next, click Adjust in the toolbar, then click Red-Eye Apple Support.

Once you are in the adjustment menu, click Auto Apple Support. Photos automatically removes any red-eye that it detects in faces in the photo Apple Support.

Manually correcting remaining red-eye

If red-eye still appears after trying the automatic option, drag the Size slider until the circle is the same size as the red area in the person’s eyes Apple Support.

Hold the pointer over the red pupil and click, then repeat this step for all other red eyes in the photo Apple Support. When you’re finished editing, click Done or press Return Apple Support.

Limitations of the Mac red-eye tool

There are a few limits to keep in mind when working with these adjustments. You can’t remove red-eye from a video using the red-eye tool Apple Support.

Additionally, the red-eye tool doesn’t work on animal eyes that show the flash in a different color, such as green or yellow Apple Support. You also can’t copy and paste the settings from the red-eye tool, retouch tool, crop tool, or third-party extensions Apple Support.
